MAYBO Certifications & Credentials
Redefining the Safety Benchmark for Pet Treats
MAYBO Pet has redefined the safety standards for pet treats. We don't just manufacture in a NSW Food Authority Licensed Facility; we enforce Human Grade stringent controls throughout the entire process.
Pure Origin
100% Australia Made & Proudly Australian Made, eliminating the risks associated with overseas contract manufacturing.
Artisan Craftsmanship
Utilizing a Hand-Trimmed process and small-batch production methods to ensure physical safety and avoid the risk of metal contamination from mechanical processing.
Beyond Compliance Testing
We conduct Extended Safety Testing Beyond Standard Requirements, performing comprehensive screenings for microbes, heavy metals, and contaminants.
Transparent Verification
Every batch undergoes Trusted Independent Laboratory Testing. Our test reports are publicly accessible—safety you can see.
Choosing MAYBO Pet means choosing Australia’s highest production standards and a commitment to transparent safety.
NSW Food Authority Licensed Facility
At MAYBO Freeze Dried, every product is produced in our licensed food processing facility in Kingsgrove, NSW, operating under approval issued by the NSW Food Authority.
Our facility is registered as an animal food processing plant and operates in accordance with the Food Act 2003, Food Regulation 2025, and applicable Australian food safety standards.
We believe premium pet nutrition starts with proper process control — from ingredient sourcing and cold-chain handling, to freeze-drying, packaging, and hygiene management.
Unlike mass-produced factories, MAYBO focuses on small-batch production to maintain tighter quality consistency, ingredient integrity, and product safety across every batch.
Key points:
* NSW Food Authority licensed facility
* Australian-based production and packaging
* Small-batch manufacturing approach
* Human-grade ingredient sourcing philosophy
* Ongoing food safety and quality monitoring
Trusted Independent Laboratory Testing
At MAYBO, we only work with laboratories that operate under recognised Australian accreditation systems, including NATA-accredited facilities wherever applicable.
We believe testing should be more than just “having a report” — it should come from laboratories that are independently assessed for technical competency, method validation, equipment calibration, and quality management standards.
That is why we prioritise laboratories operating under:
* NATA accreditation
* ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory standards
* Internationally recognised analytical methods
NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia) is Australia’s official laboratory accreditation authority and is internationally recognised through ILAC mutual recognition arrangements.
In simple terms, NATA accreditation helps ensure that laboratory testing is:
* Technically competent
* Scientifically validated
* Independently audited
* Consistent and traceable
This is especially important for food and pet food testing, where accuracy, contamination screening, and result reliability matter.

Why We Work With Eurofins Laboratories
MAYBO uses testing services from Eurofins laboratories for selected analytical testing.
Eurofins is one of the world’s largest scientific laboratory networks, operating more than 900 laboratories across 60+ countries and specialising in food, environmental, pharmaceutical, and contamination testing.
In Australia, multiple Eurofins laboratories operate with NATA accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
Eurofins laboratories are widely used across industries for:
* Food safety testing
* Heavy metal analysis
* Water activity testing
* Microbiological screening
* Environmental and contamination testing
Their Australian laboratories maintain accredited quality systems and participate in ongoing proficiency and interlaboratory testing programs to maintain analytical reliability.
For MAYBO, choosing recognised independent laboratories is part of our commitment to transparency, product safety, and long-term quality assurance.
Extended Safety Testing Beyond Standard Requirements
At MAYBO, we believe food safety should go beyond the minimum.
While routine heavy metal and microbiological screening is not universally mandatory for small-batch freeze-dried pet treats in Australia, we voluntarily conduct additional independent laboratory testing as part of our own internal quality and safety standards.
The testing shown here was performed on our actual factory-produced freeze-dried kangaroo meat — not a theoretical formulation or supplier specification sheet. The sample submitted was taken directly from MAYBO’s own production batch using our in-house freeze-dried product.
This allows the testing to better reflect the real finished product that customers receive.

Heavy Metal & Microbiological Screening
The product was independently tested for:
* Water Activity (Aw)
* Salmonella
* Mould & Yeast
* Arsenic (As)
* Cadmium (Cd)
* Lead (Pb)
* Mercury (Hg)
Key Results
* Water Activity: 0.092
* Salmonella: Not Detected (/125g)
* Moulds: <10 cfu/g
* Yeast: <10 cfu/g
Heavy Metal Results:
* Arsenic (As): <0.05 mg/kg
* Cadmium (Cd): <0.002 mg/kg
* Lead (Pb): <0.01 mg/kg
* Mercury (Hg): 0.003 mg/kg
⸻
What These Results Mean
Extremely Low Water Activity
The tested Aw value of 0.092 is considered extremely low for a meat-based product.
Low water activity helps:
* Reduce microbial growth potential
* Improve shelf stability
* Maintain product integrity without preservatives
For reference, most bacteria struggle to grow below Aw 0.85, while even mould growth becomes heavily restricted at much lower levels.
Salmonella Not Detected
No Salmonella was detected in a 125g test portion.
Salmonella screening is one of the most important microbiological safety indicators in raw and freeze-dried animal products.
Very Low Mould & Yeast Counts
Mould and yeast counts were reported as:
* <10 cfu/g
This is an extremely low result and indicates very strong moisture control and hygienic handling during production and packaging.
Heavy Metals Within Very Low Ranges
The screened heavy metals were either:
* Not detected below laboratory reporting limits, or
* Present only at trace-level concentrations
These results indicate the tested product falls within low-level exposure ranges and showed no elevated contamination concerns in the analysed batch.
⸻
Why MAYBO Chooses Additional Testing
As a small-batch manufacturer, we choose to invest in additional testing not because it is always required — but because we believe premium pet nutrition should also come with transparency and accountability.
Our goal is to continuously improve:
* Batch consistency
* Ingredient safety
* Moisture stability
* Long-term product quality
Additional independent testing and quality assurance programs will continue expanding as MAYBO grows.
